I have my MTX amp mounted in the trunk [not vertically] but on 95+ degree days the amp will kick off on a high temp circuit breaker. Does anyone else have that problem?
I've thought about installing a fan to help disapate the heat, think that would help???????????

first - to clarify something that i'm not clear on... does the amp just immediately shutdown or is it after some extended listening?

i have had some minor issues with this... of course in Louisiana, summer temps get in the high 90's and low 100's quite frequently... on hot summer days, i've had a shutdown once in a while after listening to the stereo at high volumes for extended driving times of an hour or so. the fact is -- there's just no where to dump the heat after a point. our trunk is quite small, so it doesn't have a huge reservoir of cool air, and between the sun beating down and the amps pumping out heat eventually it just gets too hot in there... not to mention, the Kicker ZR i'm using is known for high heat output anyway.

as you can see in this shot here, i am using fans to cool the system, and it has helped a great deal, but if you're amp is mounted open in the trunk, you shouldn't really need a fan. i do need fans with my cover, as when one of my fans got unplugged, i shutdown in about 20 minutes. still, a fan won't hurt your situation, but the effort and costs involved in doing it may not pay off with much benefit. where exactly is the amp mounted?

regarding a more serious cooling solution.... i've been debating on whether i should setup a cool air injection system of some sort.... considering my background in paintball and the ready availability of liquid CO2, i have been debating on whether to install a couple CO2 tanks and setup a regulated dump of cold CO2 gas into the trunk for those really hot days...
