Has anybody thought how to mount a video camera to our cars. I originally thought of replacing the aero screen with some kind of metal mount for the camera, but I don't think it's going to be sturdy enough. My second thought was to remove the top storage cover, and have a mount welded in? Any ideas/thoughts?
Idea #1 will probably work for S2K days, but it won't pass the tech inspection for VIR.
Cheers,
David Kelly

I've been giving this some thought, too, specifically the aeroscreen replacement.
I also have some concerns as to how sturdy this would be, but I am hoping to give it a try unless I come up with or see a better idea. I will take a look at what attachment points are available with the top storage cover removed.
I think that area (between the roll hoops) is ideal because the camera can be set up to get a view of the tach/speedo as well as the track ahead.
Some have suggested the 'helmet cam', which is an ultra light camera that can be mounted to your helmet (or elsewhere) and then connected to the video-in on some camcorders. Unfortunately, my camcorder doesn't have video-in, so that isn't an option for me.

I have an excellent video mount but I have no idea what it is called. It mounts to the divider in the secret compartment. It cost something like $75 but it is well worth it. I will have this at S2KDays for all to see.

Meat, Do you have a picture of this camera mount? I'm going to VIR for a track day on Saturday and would like to tape the event. Did you purchase it somewhere? Or make it yourself?

how about this idea? (not mine)
he said it works great and doesn't cost him that much at all - the parts came from http://www.x10.com
