I just bought the 5901 for $209 on Amazon. It doesn't have the battery backup of the 5902. Maybe not necessary.

I got my 5901 today, need to have it installed now.

I didn't spring he extra $100 for the 5902. you can do battery backup cheaper, or it may be unnecessary if you wire it right.

diff between 5901 and 5902 is the color remote. Backup battery is a necessity and you should spend the 20 dollars and add it. Along with multiple kills. This alarm takes roughly 8 hrs to install in a stealth manner so be prepared if you are having it installed its not going to be cheap.

Yup, mine took 7.5 hours to install and it is great having that security right now. I am much more relaxed leaving/parking the car with a one-mile ranged remote pager.

Next, devise a plan on how you will handle the situation if you get paged that someone is screwing with your car.
One guy I know caught someone breaking into his and tried to "help the guy retrieve his keys from his locked car" while the cops came and arrested the scumbag.

I would really have to restrain myself from going "postal" on the dude.

Just wanted to add that I find programming the remote a complete pain in the arse.
There should be a computer app and USB connection to the remote to transfer your settings.
Instead, they have 3 mini buttons on the side and 2 larger ones on the front.
It's like setting a digital watch that has 100 functions, scrolling, scrolling, adjusting, setting, scrolling.

My alarm installer did most of that, but as I tweek the settings, I find the need to change a few parameters, not easy.

The instruction manual is almost usless. Instead of detailed procedures, the have squashed the manual into a pocket sized reference that is vague and insufficient, in my opinion.

Another reason for a pro-install. DYI will take forever and leave you quite frustrated.
