EMP's go MUCH further back than just The Matrix...

back in 2000, i was playing a lot of Team Fortress Classic online... favorite class? Engineer. favorite weapon? the EMP.




seriously though, i remember discussing the short and long term effects of thermonuclear events (including EMP's) in my modern Physics course... just after we learned about how to build nuclear weapons and breeder reactors...

But if it were an EMP, changing the battery wouldn't be enough- I'd have to replace the solenoid (according to War of the Worlds anyways)

 

yeah... just the solenoid...

depending on how hardened the S2000's electronics are, you'd be stuck w/ a whole lot more than that... thankfully, movie heroes don't live in the same universe as the rest of us, so the laws of physics don't apply.


either or -- you are correct, replacing only the battery solved the problem, so it clearly wasn't an EMP. all the paranoid conspiracy theories are now dead....
