Went bass shakers instead of trunk sub
I have a RF punch..not sure the power but I think they are supposed to be pretty nice amps?
S2kAok that's exactly why I went with shakers instead of Subs, I didn't want anybody outside the car to hear it.

i already had an amp powering the fronts/tweeters and i had the rear channels free so i put the bass shakers in. easy install and cheap. also, with the top down i was unsure if a sub would actually penetrate from the trunk into the open cabin, the bass shakers seemed like the logical choice for the s2000 and them going in the map pockets made the install so damn easy...

also, i bought mine through partsexpress...

You guys have me curious about these, I've seen em used in home theatres but I wanna see em in a vehicle.
I think I installed a set back in the 2001ish time frame... I still would like a subwoofer, I decided the loss of trunk space was too great a sacrifice, and I've really grown to love the Shakers.
Ahhh, but you guys that have shakers and no subwoofer are missing a good portion of your music. Subwoofers aren't all about feeling the bass - they're about reproducing the bass frequencies (it just so happens that the low freqs they reproduce create a rumbling feeling).
i thought that's what the bass shakers are for? don't they pick up the lows? if you have components the woofer in the door would do the mids and the tweeters take the highs? correct me if i'm wrong. i'm new to the ICE scene. installing mine this weekend with Infinity Kappa Perfects. 6.1.
just got the new IDA-100 and i'm loving it. there's no cd player though. who needs one when you can just carry 8-16gigs of music on your keychain. =)

Eh, a CD player has better sound quality than your 8-16gigs on a keychain (this is why I went back to buying CDs...)
Bass shakers simply rattle your butt according to the music. Subwoofers actually reproduce the music (and as a side effect, rattle your butt)

Well, I'm long past the stage of getting into an argument about how everything works in the audio world. Suffice it to say that I'm happy enough with the sound (and feel) of my system. It was well worth the money, IMO...
LOL...
I'm not trying to start an argument. Just trying to make sure other people (newbies to the car audio world) understand the difference between Bass-shakers and Subwoofers and what that difference will mean in their respective setups.

I have to be honest I was going to put a sub in but my stereo buddy said do the bass shakers, you won't hear the sub. I'm hoping to hear a sub at one of the meets, for now the shakers will do..plus I spent way too much on the system as it is.
