Default What is this?

Hello friends and gurus!

I have found something weird which I so far have thought to be some cheap crappy aftermarket tweeters. I have never paid too much attention to those since I figured them to be just tweeters. Only thing that I have wondered was "why would anyone screw something this small onto the A-pilar" and not use some double-sided tape for instance.. However, I have now discovered that they do not actually output sound from the radio. And in fact I think that the whole speaker is way too small to even be able to output music. So what the helvettiä? What are these things for?? I tried to follow the wiring, but it does not even seem to be going to the direction of the radio? It seems to be going straight down from the A-pilar and under the interior carpet?? I didnt have enough time to follow the wire to the end.. will do as soon as possible. But in the meantime I hope to find some answers here

And because I cant link images here, please check it out from my instagram: tonnis2k

Hope I grabbed the correct image. I am not sure what this is, but could it (they) be microphone(s) for hands free calling on an aftermarket head unit?

Interested to see what your finding is on where the other end terminates.

Looks like hands-free mike to me. You have Bluetooth phone setup on your radio?

Thanks for attaching the image! How does one simply link an image here?? Im sure the instructions can be found somewhere, but quick tip please.

So there are two of these. One on each side. And now that you have said it, and after a short google image search, I am pretty sure that these are actually some bluetooth microphones. Of course if it's not the NSA or ex-girlfriend spying...

I also found one which is awfully similar to the ones I have. Atleast the microphone end of the wire looks similar. I still have to figure out where is the other end though http://www.incarmusic.co.uk/3-5mm-ca...d-stereos.html

And what comes to the radio, as long as I have had the car, it have had the stock radio. Might probably be though that the previous owner has changed it back to stock.

I stumbled into this dilemma (ironically) because I bought new Ground Zero 2-way speakers to replace the crappy "tweeters" and crackling door speaker set-up, only to find out my speakers were actually microphones oh well.. at least the sound quality should improve

What? Thats exactly what I tried to do and only that red "x" with "Posted Image" text appears on the first post -.- or then it doesnt work with straight instagram links..? Or I just dont know how to use it. I guess there is no option to add a photo straight from the computer, but it has to be saved to some photo archive online first?

Thanks for the illustration though you really nailed it that's amazing!

I have these on mine, always thought they were some kind of microphone for the alarm or the immobilizer. There's never been any sound from them, to be a tweeter, and the stock radio doesn't have a blue-tooth option. I've been meaning to try and follow the wires back to the source to see where it comes from.
