My system blows fuses in about 2-3 times under full load ( subwoofer turned all the way up and volume cranked all the way up). So I needed to get new fuses, I went to radioshack and they charged me 3.99+tax for 2 60amp fuses. Isnt that a little too mcu hfor 2 fuses?

 

you know what i did a search and fuses do cost that much.

i work w/ my Audio shop and buy them in batches (not bulk, but...) they generally sell them to me at $1 to $.75 each.

did you ever find out why yours was blowing them so agressively?

 

not really i put the radishack ones 60 amp and they are fine for the last 2 days.But now the 300//2 started acting up the same way that the 500/1 was acting. It starts with the signal then turns off when i go a little low volume. I looked at it and there was no signal sensing switch like the 500/1. Hmm I was playing with the alpine and there is a selection call deff... on/off. I was wondering if thats the reason I dont even know what that does. I only know that when its on I cant turn on my "MX" audio booster thing.

Poke around and you'll find the fuses you want for $1.88...for a pack of five

 

deff = defeat. it bypasses time correction, the eq (bass/treble controls), MX, fader, balance, crossovers, etc. (you don't have all of those, but it will bypass the ones you have.) it's a purist's output. combined w/ the display off, it should provide you with an optimal signal.

btw imho, MX = crap. leave it off, and you'll be a happier person.

300/2 is doing the same? hrm. let me look at the manual.
while you're at it -- try replacing the fuse on the 300/2 and see if it helps, if not go back to the old fuse.
ok -- nothing is jumping out at me on this one...

can you list the positions of the switches and dials on the 300/2?

also -- have you considered running it back to the store and asking them why you're blowing fuses like popcorn?

 

Well Actually after I put those radio shack fuses, the system is fine but also I havent cranked it up way too much too in these days. I ll see about the positions on the switchs.

 

Do yourself a favor Andy, and call those retards over at JL and ask them what the hell is going on.
