Default Where can I take my 03 ignition key to be modified

I just bought this:

but the 08-09 versions. I have a 2003 S2K which they don't make one for 2000-2003 So I grabbed one.

Does anyone know what I need to do to with my new key to get the tip fitted to my 2003 key? or possibly a better solution? I love this key and really want to use it on my 2003.

I live in Glendale California so if anyone knows any places around here that would be helpful. Thanks!

I heard I could just put a 08-09 transponder from the car into my S rather than modify the key. Could that work? I also heard that there's a guy on this site who knows of a solution I asked about this before but I didn't have the key yet.

Man that's a lot to go through for something that just sits in your pocket. Go to the stealership and ask.

Congrats! You just wasted your money on a key that will not work for your car. You would have to replace every single lock cylinder on your car including the ignition, even then, I'm not sure that you would be able to get the immobilizer to work.

eyy go to Home depot and talk to them. They cut keys and also program them if your car has chip in the key. Basically they have this computer that copies the key code or w/e from your old key to the new key and cut it for you. All for like $39.00!!. I got an extra key for my03 and it works perfect. Although I havent tried the key your mentioning, but its worth asking. GL!

Won't work at all.

Its not so much the transponder but the metal key blank portion.

Your original key will show you that it is cut on the outer edge and has no groove.

The newer style key is cut in a completely different fashion.

The keys are not compatible. The later keys are the "sidewinder" cut and will not fit in the cylinder of the older models. It's not unlike the problem of trying to jam your house key into your ignition key cylinder.

While it is theoretically possible to cut this key to fit your MY03 cylinder, it would mean machining the side grooves and then cutting the key normally - would cost aLOT more than getting the right blank to start with.
