For your alpine, there are a couple of solutions that will let you keep your dash controls. Click my signature for Qube's Audio Control, the solution that I came up with. You can also do a search for "PAC SWI-X". There's also another solution in the works by modifry and Lucid (those are their screennames), but I'm not sure if their Alpine solution is on the market yet.

BTW, I don't recommend Alpine's FantomFace feature for the S2000. The face hits the radio door when you turn the radio on. You have to open the radio door manually every time you want to listen to the radio.

Do yourself a favor and listen to DJ Qube... The Phantomface unit will break if you let the face hit the radio door.

I still recommend Alpine. They have several head units that don't use the FantonFace. I'm using the 7995, which has no internal amplifier. If you want something with an internal amplifier, the 7893 and 7894 would be worth taking a look at.

i can vouch for the 7893, been very very happy with it. i have not installed a switch to reactivate the dash controls and have been considering cubes setup. i just hate taking the dash off

i hate having to pull on those plastic pieces until they snap

i just installed the 7894 and i love it. i would have preferred the 7995 since I'm running an external amp, but the 7894 fit in with my interior better. still a great head unit! and much cheaper then the 7897!

the 7995 isn't worth the 100 more over the 7894. Even if you're using the preouts only its best to have the int. amp in case you want to swap the 7894 out to another car.

I've used both, i have the 7995 installed at the moment. the new dash controller is simply amazing in response.

I dunno I have the equivalent of the 7894, and have the amp defeated. Works great. I don't know how its going to get any better.
