Considering replacing the stock front speakers on my MY00 with these. Does anyone know if these will fit? Please help. Thanks.

Infinity's website says that these have a 2-3/16" mounting depth.

i had the same speakers installed in my car more than two years ago. these are good speakers for the price. although i wish there was a bit more bass. in any case, installation is easy if you cut your baskets. depth is not an issue.

Can anyone explain why cutting the basket will make for an easier install? Thanks.

Well if you cut the brasket and use it, then you don't have to drill new holes into your door panel. I just did this yesterday with the infinity kappa perfects and it was very simple. Just cut out the bottom end of the brasket and mount it on top of your oem brasket. There might also be a metal ring that comes with the speakers just in case the depth is too much.

Do you put the 2 rubber gaskets in between the speaker and the ring, or between the ring and the door?

rubber? u mean that foam thing? mine had the metal ring and some foam fittings. I just placed the foam on the speaker and on top of the metal ring. The metal rings went on top of the oem brasket. Then again I had no clue what I was doing but it seems to hold very well.

Do you have any pix? I unscrewed it from the door and then unscrewed it from the oem speakers. With just the plastic brasket alone, I cut. Sorta unclear which you're talking about unless you can give some pix.
