Im going to help john a bit here....

The 4AWG wire is from the battery to the distribution block (if you have more than one amp) or straight to the amps power inputs. The 12" means, 12" from where the wire touches the battery, that it where you put a fuse (inline fuse.)

Now, you need to ground your amp. If you ground it with a long wire, your system while have a bad whine in it. To add to what John is saying, if you are using 4AWG directly (no dist block) for power, I would either.....

*4AWG ground wire and you can have up to 24" of distance
*8AWG ground wire no more than 12"

I have found using the same gauge wire in/out yield a lot less noise problems.

Do you understand everything now???

i understand a lot of things but not everything~!!!!!

-4 gauge wire from the battery to a fuse (12") (less than 12" is OK ??!)
-????? from the fuse to the amp (single amp)
-6 gauge wire for grounding (24", if using 8 gauge--->>12")
-everything else is OK with me

if i'm wrong with something, tell me plz...

know why i'm asking stupid questions!!! i'm doing the job myself here and i'm new to this thing (^_^) ```

thanks Dave, John `

Yes 4 gauge from battery to amp (you have one amp right?) 12" on the 4gauge from hte battery install a fuse.

4 gauge 24" ground wire or 8 gauge 12" ground wire.
