Thumbs up Wiring fog lights

Hey everyone....I plan on installing some PIAA fog lights on my car and I want to make sure my wiring will be correct when I do it. I plan on using a Bosch style relay (the kind with 5 prongs), a switch, and of course the lights. For those that are familiar with the Bosch style relay, it has 5 prongs; labled 30, 85, 86, 87, and 87a. Let me know if this sounds correct:

Prong 30 will be connected to the car's battery with an inline fuse (20amps or so)
Prong 87 will be connected to the fog lights themselves (the fog lights will have their own separate ground)
Prong 86 will be connected to a grounding point
Prong 85 will be connected to the "on" position of a switch inside the cabin (now should I connect the other side of the switch to the parking lights so the fogs can ONLY come on when the parking lights are on?)
Prong 87a will be connected to the high beams so when the high beams are on, the fogs turn off (state law requires that in VA)

Does this sound about right?

Feel free to adjust or add some hints...

Thanks
Cris P.

your current setup WILL allow the fogs to work off of that switch, BUT that switch will be triggering the high beams. This will work if you wanna turn off the fogs everytime you wanna flip your high beams on. Basically whats gonna happen is that your fogs will work as normal but the high beam will ONLY turn on when the switch is off, when the fogs are on the high beams wont work at all, until you turn off the switch. Now if that is the setup your going for then your good to go.

Now if you want the fogs to be on and then when you flip the high beams on you want the fogs to turn off without having to touch the switch you will need another relay to cut the constant to your fog lights when the high beam is powered. holler if you need any help! i LOVE relays!

That does make sense. Even if I connected terminal 87a to say right behind the socket of the high beam (the power lead), would I still need to turn the switch off in order too use the high beams? Could I use a different switch maybe?

How would I wire up the other relay? If you don't mind...I would need specifics as to what where to connect each prong.

Thanks,
Cris P.

if you connected the power lead from the high beams to the 87a terminal, you need the switch to be OFF for them to turn on. If the fogs are on the high beams wont trigger at all because they wont have a 12v. And if you just splice into the power lead it wouldnt have any effect.

My advice is to use 2 relays so you can wire it up safely, but you can actually get away with one and have the effect where you turn on the high beams and it'll shut off the fogs. I'll post a couple of diagrams in a couple of hours here. im at work right now

Thanks dude! If you could post two diagrams up; one for two relays and one for using one relay where I get my desired effect.

I know I might be over thinking all of this, but I just don't want to have to deal with removing the lights every year for state inspection you know?

Thanks,
Cris P.

i dont think so, your probably looking at custom fabricating something.

i just dont think the bumper holes in the ap2 are fit for foglights, and even if you did fabricate something it would look kinda weird imo. But we never know til someone makes one!

just get an ap1 bumper and swap the odyssey fogs! btw hey give me a call today in the afternoon if you still have my number, ill help you tune your prox sensor. did you find out where it was mounted? they should have mounted it underneath your center console.

Sounds good man, Thanks! I don't know why VA requires it, but I have noticed on most cars that have OEM fog lights, they cut off when the high beams are turned on. VA is a bit backward anyways if you ask me...

Thanks,
Cris P.

ok here is the single relay, now this one you can do, but its risky because your powering another set of lights off of the parking lights 12v, so if your wire is thick enough you could, but i don't know if it is
