How much are you looking to spend and how do you want it to sound?

Mmm...rattling sucks...Damn I need some deadening...

[Edit] Since I like wasting peole's time, here's an 8" that you *can't* use:

So sexy! But a 6.83" mounting depth...and I have yet to see the 8's in any store or online so you'd have a tough time finding it anyway...

I've only heard W7's in the 13" incarnation but man, I've never heard a "prettier" sub in my life...

Anyhow, back to useful information...

maybe around 400 on the subs and the amp. give or take a hundred or so. i dont want it to be super loud, but i do want to have enough bass enough to get things goin. maybe around 500 watts total from both subs.

I have one enclosure with an 8" Boston Pro sub and Alpine MRD-M300 amp. I have been very happy with this set up. The instaler couldn't belive how much bass I was getting from one 8" (He had recommended 10" in the tool well).
I paid $180 for the sub and $200 for the amp. No rattles.

Uh...Two Cerwin Vega VEGAs and a USX8000D amp will get you in under $400...Switch out the VEGAs for some Kicker L5's and you'll be a little over $400 but you should be happier...

how are the rockford 8" subs. i'm thinking of the ROCKFORD FOSGATE PUNCH HE2'S. they're 200watts rms each. and to power them, a RF Punch 501x. it says i can bridge the amp at 250X2 so will the amp be powerful enough to drive the subs? also, i'm looking into finding an amp for my front speakers (Polk ex components) as well as rear speakers (kenwoods). do i need a 4 channel multi amp for this? what would be a good amp to power this one.. thanks again

Uh...RF doesn't sound bad...it's just that you can always find better for the same price.

But if you've heard the RF subs and they sound good to you, then go for it. In fact, that's how you should approach everything about speakers. Listen to as many as you can--in a car if possible and on a store's board if not possible--and then get what sounds best to you within your price range.

You can run your rears off your deck though they'd probably sound better amped...

p.s. The 8" HE2 is 250w RMS and you don't really need a 4-channel amp for your subs...Heck, you could run *all* of your stereo components off just that amp if you wanted to

I have the L7, I am more than satisfied with it. Very loud bass, even with the top down.

well i 've had rf subs b4. they sound good, but i havent heard much more. main reason was for that ilike the look of new RF subs. anyway, the subs i want are 8" HE's, which are 200 watts each RMS. i figured the 501X was a 500 watt amp therefore i needed to use all the power to run the 2 subs. thats why i was planning on getting an additional amp to run to the 4 speakers in the cabin. i'm pretty much a stereo newb.. so i'm not too sure i just figured the 501X could only power the subs. =/

You could hook up as many subs as you want to a mono amp, as long as the amp could handle the impedance
