Default XM Radio

I have XM Radio in my S2000. I've never had it in another vehicle so I have no idea what's up with it.

I preset my channels when I bought the car and it worked fine until a few days ago. Now, when I turn it on, it stays on one of three channels. When I try to scan through the channels, there are none there. If I hit the button for a specific preset channel, the screen says "UPDATING" and then goes back to one of the three available channels.

Anyone else having/had this problem? I'm supposed to have three months free with the purchase of the car. Could it be that my subscription wasn't processed/updated/paid or is this something to do with them updating the satellites or what?

I checked the website and there didn't seem to be any info about a period of downtime or updating.

If you get one channel you should get them all. XM hasn't been down. Maybe there's something wrong with your unit. Mine has buttons that allow you to go up and down through the stations. Take it back to the dealer or whoever installed it.

Called XM and they said the account hadn't been updated to reflect my purchase of the car and the subsequent 3 month free trial. They updated it and it should be good to go now...

sometimes the radios lose their "approved" status. to fix it you merely put in the radio ID on their site and it'll ping it to reactivate it.

Yeah, the problem is that I didn't know the billing zip code so they wouldn't allow me to do anything with the account.

Sirius and XM are merging so it doesn't really matter which one you get now. (thats what an XM letter sent out to all customers said)

It was on the car when I bought it. It was a "freebie", since the dealership didn't realize it had it either, until we'd agreed on price, so I didn't even have to pay more for that feature.

The satellite receiver is also painted to match the car, so it's really not noticeable.

Also, as others have pointed out, with a merger of the two, it really won't matter either way.
