Default Yeah, but how does a trunk sub sound?

Hey guys, I've been doing some research, and I used the hexx out of the search button, but I wasn't really able to find any info on the sound quality of a trunk-mounted sub in an S2000. I would assume that its hard to get bass into the cabin since the trunk is more-or-less sealed and separate. But I'd love to get some descriptions from people who actually run in-trunk subs. Is it worth it? (Looking at darksidesubs specifically, but might build my own bottom-mount)

That depends on the sub, the enclosure, how it's tuned.

I have a trunk well sub and I'm very pleased with it's SQ.

I just want to hear that it CAN sound decent... obviously there are variables to consider, but if the best case scenario was crappy sound then I wouldn't even bother.

I have a custom down fire box in my trunk well and I think it sounds great. It sounds different at high speeds with the top down though.

Mine did what I needed it to do, which was just to fill out the sound. The SQ wasn't great (but not because of the location), but I didn't really want that since the rest of the system wasn't great anyways (my primary concerns were keeping weight out of the car and making it easy to remove for track days and autocross).

Thanks guys... at this point I feel that I can build my own since I already have the sub. I'm gonna tackle it next weekend.

I don't have a sub, but would say the S2K's trunk is less sealed and separate from the cabin than those of a coupe or sedan, and subs in the trunk of those don't sound *too* bad. IIRC, all that's separating the trunk from cabin is the plastic panels behind the seats and trunk liner. If you take those out you can see straight through the trunk into the cabin (albeit a very small passage under the soft top shelf and over the gas tank). I can see where SQ with the top down at highway speeds would be an issue though.
