Flashpro is a standalone in my book. Since it flashes the ROM with a completely different one and allows you to tune boost and such, i'd say it's pretty standalone.

I have a standalone ECU for the dbw s2k using an AEM EMS and custom plug and play harness that I have had since 2006. The stock ecu stays in place to run the DBW and dash and the AEM EMS takes care of the tuning of the engine.

For a minute there, it seemed that something like this might help with an ITB setup on an '06+, but then I started thinking it wouldn't. Would it?

It would help because the system is complete plug and play and you need some form of Standalone EMS to run ITBs on this car. You would have to add a throttle cable for the ITB's. as the DBW system does not support ITBs

You might just be able to relocate the throttle cable from the DBW module over to the ITB's. I think it is over by the left shock tower, IIRC. However, it seems that the hardest thing would be idle control, since there isn't an IACV.

I think that the throttle cable from the drive by wire box may be an little short"not sure" as for idle control you can wire up a idle valve to the ITBs. or you can simply have the car idle a little higher to prevent stalling with the Itbs

We've been using AEM EMS on the S2000 DBW for a while. It works great. I would go with what fits your budget honestly.

What are you using the AEM EMS for that can't be done with a FlashPro? It seems that the only reason to use anything other than a FlashPro is if you want iVTEC, Nitrous, ITB's, or boost control.

I tune just about everything. From Flash Pro to Electromotive. So it's not me being bias. The AEM Series 2 is all live updating. Not certain things. Everything. Closed loop boost control. Easy enough I am able to talk to customers over the phone at the track to get it some what setup for the track. Nitrous/Meth/Octane maps. Engine protection (air:fuel, coolant temp, air temp, etc). Great knock control. Flex fuel control. I could go on. But. I'm not here to try and sell one or the other. People can do their research, talk to their tuner and make their own decision.
