I am planning to wire in a oil temp sensor into my Haltech Platinum Pro.

I know I need to wire in a pull-up 1k resistor into the 2 wire sensor.

However I do not know a location in the engine bay to get 5V.

Does anyone know a reliable 5V source? I've read the TPS is 5V however I am concerned that tapping this could result in some issues with TPS reading into my EMS?

I've also seen some posts regarding the wiring of a Yellow Jacket (speedo corrector) that uses 5V but nothing that outlines what all is actually 5V.

Wire it straight to your ecu. Check your pinout. You'll need to find your sensor ground (-5v), sensor power (+5v) and your desired analog channel.

Yep, c18 or C7, and c19 or c28. Use whichever are easiest (if unused).

Check to see the full ecu side pinout to find an available analog input. See what c23 and c31 are. If it's a 0-5v sensor input, then wire up your pull up resistor and you're good to go.

do i have to find ones that are unused and wire in those? i assume there was OEM wiring to C18 and C19 that I could just crimp taps onto?

 

You can have multiple sensors connected to any given ground and power. I was saying, if any of those power or grounds are unused, it would make things easy. No, never use those crimp wire taps. Do a proper splice. So yah, just splice into c18 and c19 for your power and ground.

there are two spare avi's on the haltech pro plug in ecu. you're using one for the wideband so you have one spare one. use the spare one for the oil pressure sensor.

i realized i could just power it off the auxiliary harness which seems the easiest way and doesnt hack up my OEM engine harness

 

Well there ya go. Just buy the connector, and wire the sensor directly. But, it seems a bit pricey.

The pinout you posted is for the stock ecu/plugs. You need the pinout for the Haltech ecu.

I'm not familiar with the Haltech S2000 pnp connector, but I'm assuming the plug on the ECU side has a couple free/unused pins. Check out what those free pins are. If one of them is an an "AVI", then simply pin your signal wire in the connector. Then, splice the harness to get your power and ground. Add your 1k pullup resistor, then run your 2 wires to the sensor.
