Yes you can. I recommend just getting the AEM Series 2 though as a lot of the first ones had little issue's here and there that you may not want to deal with. Plus if you ever need a older box serviced, it is not cheap.

The major disadvantages of series 1 are:

1. you need a laptop with a serial port or need to find a solution for connecting to the ems via a usb-to-serial converter, many such converters have trouble connecting
2. there is no knock signal filtering. if you have the car tuned at a tuner then this should not be a problem
3. series 1 has 512 kb internal memory while series 2 has a full 1MB.

all other differences are largely irrelevant for our motors. The 1MB is actually pretty useful since you can almost data log a full 30min on a high frequency sampling setting. I use series 1 and had to build a contraption to house my laptop so i can collect data while on the track. all the vibration is obviously not good for the hard drive.

if money is no issue, aem series 2. if money is an issue, aem 1052u series 1 box used. best bang for the buck.

I dont have any experience with that software, but it doesn't seem all that ground breaking

i use aempro, its fine. its not like you cant tune a car on aempro series 1 box. you can make the car run well, make power, and be reliable. series 2 just gave couple new features that some may like.

I cant speak for the series 2 units , however when a series 1 box is setup properly it is awesome !
