AEM infinity discontinued
Does anyone know the deal with AEM infinity being discontinued? I thought this was supposed to be their flagship ECU and they just dropped it seemingly overnight. They also have deleted/hidden/buried all mentions of it on their website, including the manual.
What gives? Did they just get out of the ECU business all together?

Probably has something to do with the DOJ/EPA cracking down on aftermarket ECUs since they classify them as "Emissions Defeat Devices". Either the EPA strong-armed them or they're fearful enough that they're trying to avoid it. ECU availability not looking good for us plebs going into the future.

AEM was bought out by Holley a couple years ago. They discontinued the Infinity ECU and have no replacement planned. Holley has their own line of ECUs, perhaps they're trying to eventually consolidate? Can't say I've ever seen one being used on an import car though; always domestic. Over the past few years a lot more affordable and capable ECUs are popping up on the market (MaxxECU, Link, Haltech, ECUMaster, Fueltech and more) Link has quickly become the standout sweetheart among the pack for our cars it seems. Their PnP G4X+ ECU is fantastic, does everything realistically better than Infinity, and is ultimately cheaper.
I just recently sold my Infinity to go Link....Wild to think a few years ago I paid nearly 2 grand for my SoS Infinity setup, and a better replacement is actually roughly $600 cheaper and fits into the stock ECU case. I can understand the allure of AEM, they made a good name for themselves on this platform between their V1 and V2 ECUs which people still buy and use; but their support sucks, and has been sucking for years, and now? It's gone.
Just the name of the game in changing and evolving markets - there's new kids on the block and AEM just didn't innovate enough. AEM didn't even design or produce the Infinity hardware or software - that was EngineLab out of Colorado. All AEM did was license it. I just recently heard about all of this myself. Looks like AEM just quietly bowed out of the game and started taking down support, links, adverts, etc. People are just now becoming more privy to the fact; especially when SoS was heavily invested in their own Infinity setup but now offers Link in its place, which is the better choice regardless if AEM was still alive and well or not.

**** me.. I still have my full SOS Infinity setup sitting in a box. lol Man I see SOS pulled the Infinity info from their website too.. :/ Oh well that's how it goes. When is Link coming out with PNP support for the 06+ s2ks?
That bites, I installed my aem infinity just a couple years ago. Also I have a tec3r in my Porsche and that company has gone belly up. Hope nothing breaks or I'll have to spend a bunch more money and retune one or both cars.

i don’t have any real complaints with my SOS AEM infinity other than the price. I paid close to $2k for it then another $500 for tuning so I’m pretty invested in it at this point.
I went with AEM over Haltech because of the AEM name being the major name for years. I spent the extra cash to have the latest and greatest version they offered and then they go and discontinue it. Kind of sucks. I emailed AEM asking for the manual and they at least sent me a copy of it, so that’s good.
I see SOS has the Link now, so I’m sure it’s a good fit, but I’m not switching just for the sake of switching.

Just to clarify: My SoS AEM Infinity setup was solid and served me well for the past couple years supercharged - zero complaints here and the reasons I'm switching have more to do with myself and my needs as opposed to whatever is going on with AEM currently or any kind of speculation associated.
Wasn't making this out to be a fear-monger post. AEM has had a solid product (aside from some early Infinity hardware failures) and it served me well. My setup has gotten quite a bit more involved and the additional features that Link offers going forward are what has me sold.
