Default AEM Series 2 Knock Control

I've been searching s2ki as well as other forums on information about knock control, and I've found limited information. In most cases, there are some suggested knock limits that one would set up, but I've found no discussion on the signal processing settings. In the AEM S2000 base map, the knock center freq is set to 6.64 kHz, the knock gain is 0.4, and the knock integrator is 300 microsec. Is this what everyone is using?

When I first got my car tuned on the EMS, the tuner told me that my knock sensor is out of whack, and recommended that I buy a new sensor. I logged the knock 1 volt signal, and it was indeed all over the place. When I compared the tuner's settings to the ones in the AEM S2000 base map, they were different. I'm not sure where he got those values - maybe carried over from a different car...

After I've set the values back to the base map values, the values make more sense in the logs. I'm seeing 0-0.1V at idle, followed by a pretty linear increase to 1.5-1.8V at redline. With colder ambient temperatures recently, peak knock volts are a bit lower (~1.5V).

If the AEM experts can chime in on the settings, I'd appreciate it. Also, if I can confirm that these are the correct settings, please also comment on how the knock volts look, and where I should set limits, if my "safety margins" are slim. Also, I'm running N/A currently, with intake, TP, and exhaust.

Thanks!

Where are the AEM tuning gurus? Any insights or comments would be appreciated.

The AEM base map is set too low and your ECU is seeing engine noise as knock. I raised mine to 2v till 7,200 and then ramped it to 2.3v by 8,800 RPM.

Has this worked well and are you confident your engine is safe?
