Default Aem series 2 question

Does aem series 2 have a lean fail safe built into the system? I'm just wondering because mine would cut off when my afr spike lean. Still trying to figure if it's the aem doing it or my aem fail safe. But my failsafe isn't set to anything yet.

Way late to the party here, but maybe this will help someone else in the future.

Yes the series 2 has lean fail safe (cut), if you have firmware 2v02 and have it enabled in the engine safety tab.

Thanks a lot. This explain all my cut out issue when my fuel pump went bad.

Make sure you're on 2v02 firmware, then look for the "engine safety" tab. You may have to scroll right through the tabs to see it.

I found this on my software. Any idea what the settings should be? I see O2#1 kill and O2#2 kill. I can set them to on, but is there a way to set a specific A/F that it considers to be lean?

The Engine Protect Rev Limit is set at 0 RPM. I assume this means it will kill the engine to 0 RPM if it detects a lean state?

Look for the "Engine Protection" tab at the far right, just past "Coils/Inj." In there you should see options for O2 Kill Min RPM, Min TPS, Delay, etc etc.

If it isn't there, you may have to setup the tab, options window, or individual options. Honestly I can't remember if I did that myself or if the last software update added it automatically.

I see all that, I was wondering what the options should be set to? Does 02#1 kill set to on mean that it will kill the engine when it sees 02#1 going lean? And in that lean protection tab, what is the engine protect rev limit? Is that what it cuts the engine back to when it detects lean?

I assume it has it's own parameters of what it considers lean.

There is a table called O2 Kill Limit where you set the O2 AFR cutoff based on engine load. Again, you may have to set that table up, I can't recall.

Do you have the information panel on the right side of the screen visible? It goes a long way toward explaining what all of the options do, although their descriptions could be improved in some cases.

Also, you can ignore the O2#2 stuff, as we only have 1 sensor.
