Default AP1 ecu on F22C1?

I'm in the process of buying an AP1 with a F22C engine and transmission controlled by a F20C ecu.

Is it o.k. to run this ecu? I sure do not want to damage the engine.

Thanx for the help.

Wrong section, please move to correct one.

IIRC, the only problem with running the F20C ECU on an F22C engine is that the rev limitter is higher than is safe to run it. If you aren't carefull, you can accidentally overrev it, and damage valves or rods.

A friend of mine is running an AP1 with a transplant F22 in it on a stock AP1 ecu. thing is a beast! No problems at all, he did however switch to a lightweight flywheel to reduce rotating mass also.

Need to change to AP1 cams and springs to get the most out of it. The AP2 cam runs out of power about 8.5k IIRC

Did you try with another F22C1 with similar mods (if any)? I think it will be slower. As mentioned before the cams operates better at different RPM range. The ignition timing is different, as well as the fuel trim.... It's the feeling of having 9000 RPM that is tricking you.

Someplace on here is a dyno or 2 of the AP2 with an AP1 ecu and yes, more power was made, but it showed the loss of power above 8.xxx due to cam design.

you will stress the motor running it up to 9K, it will eventually lead to engine failure... earlier then if you ran it to 8k.

So to answer you're question, yes it's ok to run the ECU but not to run into the rev limiter without future complications
