Default Dyno Tuned Questions

I recently had my local tuner dyno tune my MY06 AP2 with K&N Fipk/PLM Header/Invidia 70mm Tp/ Greddy SE Single. I went to dyno tune because i was getting knocks counts, which i found out later was from running super lean. However after the dyno tune im still getting knock at really low rpm(1000-2600 rpm) especially from a start at almost every light. Is it normal?
Also my tuner disabled my primary o2 because he said it was messing with the part throttle tuning, would my car still be reliable running in open loop at all times? thanks

the knock sensor is nothing more than a tiny microphone attached to the block. once you start changing parts like your intake, it will pick up the noise and sometimes it may count it as a knock. with the flashpro software, you can actually mess with the knock sensitivity.

as far as diasbling the primary o2, it's tuner preference. me personally, i like running it in closed loop but you can run it in open loop just fine if the part throttle portion of the fuel map was tuned well. i remember on my old civic i used to leave it in open loop for months after my primary o2 sensor took a shit lol. since the car was already tuned i just left it in open loop.

I don't think the knock sensitivity tables in FlashPro will change the knock counts. I think they just change how the ECU will compensate for the knock level.

there are 3 tables that you can toy with. you can alter the tables to have the ecu never detect knock. in some cases it's almost necessary to do so.

I've adjusted all 3 tables in order to achieve the ignition curve I want with 0 knock retard, but what I found was that decreasing knock sensitivity would actually increase knock counts. Basically, the reduced knock sensitivity would cause the knock retard to go down, which would cause total IGN to go up, which would increase knock counts. I haven't found any way to make the ECU change its definition of a "knock".

Agreed.

I just got Flashpro and with K&N intake and HFC I tried the Toda tune as recommended on another thread. Is getting some knock counts normal and relatively harmless or should I go back to stock tune until I have a better idea of what I'm doing?

Also, emphany, where in So Cal did you get your car tuned? I heard good things about MP Tuning but he doesn't do reflash tuning like the Flashpro. Thanks.

what do you guys want to know with regards to the knock control on k-manager and flashpro manager? as far as the knock counts go, not all of it is real knock. like i said in my other post, the knock sensor is nothing more than a microphone that will capture noise and generate a knock count if it catches a knock. what actually triggers a knock count is based around the knock ignition limit tables and the knock sensitivity tables.
