This is an interesting situation. I understand both sides of the argument as far as "Is it the fault of the Flashpro or Hondas O2?", but I do think Hondata has some fault in this either way. O2 sensors don't just fail immediately after a tune(yes Gernby, I know this hasn't happened to everyone). Obviously, there is something in Hondatas tune that the original O2 can't handle, therefore killing it entirely for a lot of S owners. However, if left stock, the O2 may last and this issue may never come up. Whether Honda has bad O2 sensors or not, mine was fine until a flashpro tune. I'd like to know what Hondata thinks.

I personally have an 08 S2000 which I literally flashed for the first time yesterday, and what do you know... CEL in less than 10 minutes. It's happened on both the Toda and tuned calibrations. My biggest concern is why the 08 is having this problem since it wasn't recalled? I want to know for sure that this is a O2 issue and not a Hondata problem that may be masked by a brand new O2 sensor that is just working for a prolonged time because of being brand new. For all we know, a few thousand miles and then.... CEL. I don't know about you guys, but I want my O2 to last for a bit longer than that.

Just my point of view.

^fwiw, a local owner who had less than 20,000 miles on his car had the same 02 failure on his 07 a couple of years ago (in 2010) and his car is TOTALLY STOCK.

I just ordered the replacement. Decided to just by the direct replacement as per the suggestion of the Japhethwar. $134 bucks on partsgeek.com

Part # 234-9065 for Denso Fits 06-09 S2000

This better work...

I looked at a picture of the O2 from Partsgeek and determined that it is identical to the old one(with the blue harness and tip), so I bought the new O2 from Honda as well. I want to see if these O2 sensors match up. That way I can let people know that they can buy the updated sensor for much less than Honda.

I'll keep you all updated on my findings.

Just for reference, I've put 12000 miles with the new O2 sensor and the code has never come back. I got the code right after I tuned with the FlashPro. No way it's coincidence - but I fell under the TSB range so I didn't waste to much time before ordering a new O2.

this is what happened to be as well.

completely fine driving around with my setup of a Toda Torquen headers and Fujitsubo exhaust. Then i flashed the Toda header tune and got the cel after 50 miles. Going to flash back to stock to see if I get it.

Working with Hondata on this issue, and I'm on beta 1.3.3. Seems like it's working to fix this issue. I'll find out on my drive home if it's 100% gone. FYI...this mean no need to replace the O2 sensor.

Hello everybody,
As this thread has indicated, this is all about the P2A00 MIL.

With everybody that this affects, the MIL has came on pretty much right after using the Hondata FlashPro.

What caused the issue? Honda did a TSB in 07-08 that required the replacement of the A/F sensor (front O2) due to a moisture/condensation issue killing the sensors. This change required a flash update because of the new sensors.

Who it affects? 06-09 S2000’s that did not replace the front A/F sensor and that uses the FlashPro.

Why does it affect us? The FlashPro used the latest software that accommodates the latest O2 sensor. The latest software is not backwards compatible causing the MIL to trigger (the Honda ECU is super sensitive).

What has been changed? Hondata opened up the parameters for the A/F sensor to accommodate either new or old O2 sensor.

So in conclusion, if you update to 1.3.3 or later you will not throw the MIL. If you are using anything older then 1.3.3 then you either have to update the software (which is currently beta as of 7/9/12) or replace the A/F sensor to the new version. If you don’t want to do the recommended solutions, then I can’t help you.
