PRM Intake vs K&N intake? ap1
So I have a 2003 s2000 with K&N intake installed. I am thinking about switching to PRM intake. I know that K&N have a heat shield which blocks heat from drawing in and the PRM doesn't. But if we are talking about performance on an intake, it really doesn't matter to me cause 1-2 hp doesn't make a difference So i wanna hear ppl choice. thanks

You might get better responses in the naturally aspirated section instead of the engine management section.
This has been gone over several times, but i'll give you my opinion. I had the K&N FIPK before, then I switched over to the PRM. I do agree that an intake isn't going to make much of a difference, and you won't ever feel a 2hp difference that it makes. I had the OEM airbox gutted/insulated with a K&N filter and AUT cooling plate, then went to the FIPK. I did like the FIPK better than OEM since it sounded great, and gave better throttle response. I then sold that and got the PRM, and I notice no difference between the 2 when driving. I do like the PRM better since I think it sounds better, and its more of a rare intake unlike the FIPK that everyone has now. So if you want it for looks and sound, go for it. You won't notice a real difference with it over your FIPK, and I havent had any issues with mine, so i'm happy with my decision.

But thanks for your opinion, I was thinking the same. Is the PRM make that much of a sound difference?

Is there a slight sound difference? Yes
Is it completely different from the FIPK sound? No
There is a slightly noticable difference, but its not a huge difference.

also is it worth running without a filter?
It would only be a matter of time until something major happens to the inside of your engine if you don't run a filter on an intake.
