Default Value oF FlashPro for stock or lightly modded S2Ks

I am currently considering purchasing the Hondata FlashPro for my 2008 S2000. I have considered other items as well for my first substantial modification (HyTech Header or Exhaust).

What I am wondering is would it be worth it to purchase the Flashpro on an essentially stock S2000? What would power gains/real world improvements be like on such a car?

I had the Hondata Reflash on my 20004 RSX Type-S and the differences were night and day primarily due to (i suspect) leaning of the air/fuel ratio and advancement of the VCT.

Obviously the S2000 lacks the VCT from the i-VTEC motor so I wonder how significant gains would be.

Essentially how would a stock s2000 perform to a tuned (either street or professionally) S2000 with the Flash Pro.

Thanks in advance.

theres a stock tuned calibration in it, as well as the ability to alter the vtec window.

As far as how much power you'll pull out I'm not sure, but being able to say enter vtec @ 5400 instead of 6200 would be a nice boost. Plus if you plan on modding in the future the flashpro is the way to go for us 2006+'s

yeah I downloaded the software and saw the stock calibration I am just wondering if anyone has some real experience with it and how much different it is as to stock.

i have a fujita CAI and a flashpro as my only powertrain changes.

i feel a bit more midrange -- enough to notice the difference (which i can't say of the CAI, although it probably added the typical 5-7whp). the car feels a little smoother than stock after you massage the A/F ratios, and you know they're safe. but to me, the biggest thing is with VTEC engaging earlier and the redline a little higher, you get a considerably larger VTEC window and almost never shift out of VTEC, so you stay in the powerband with much less of a conscious effort. if you auto-x, this is a big plus.

You should see some gains on a stock car. But the FP is worth having if you start modding. I love my 20whp and over 20ft lbs of tq gained in the mid with only K&N FIPK, HFC, and exhaust. Can't beat that. Plus when I go boost later on, FP supports it too

I believe the FlashPro should be the very first mod for any '06+ S2000. As ace123 metnioned, lowering VTEC to smooth out the power band and raising the rev limit really "fixes" the car. You can spend thousands on other bolt-ons that don't have nearly as significant benefits.

Does this become a nuisance when cruising on the highway at higher speeds? Are you always on the edge of engaging vtec and thus louder/getting worse MPG?

For a nearly stock setup, your VTEC would be lowered to probably 5600 RPMs, which is well above cruising speed for most people. With a decent header, VTEC can be lowered much more. My VTEC is at 3700 RPMs, but it doesn't really change fuel economy, and the change in sound is barely detectable.

yes. mine engages at 5600 WOT or as high as 6400 at part throttle.

you won't sit in VTEC on the freeway unless you tune the car specifically to do that.
