He already has a time slated to bring the car back to get the car checked out, so the issue should be taken care of by then.

I didn't get a lot of time to mess with the hot start as it really was rather intermittent, it should all be taken care of next week.

Other than the hot start the car seemed to run perfectly normal and was nice and smooth, but I do think the Initial Crank Pulse table needs some adjustment.. And I would like to resync the timing utilizing more tooth offset to get some more of the crank angle back.

During the time I had this car Haltech's website was down and it was a Sunday night, so I found a lot more info the past few days on this that should help out after I had access to the right resources.

Also on this particular car I had to rewire the supplied relay off the conversion harness to get VTEC to function correctly with the Haltech box.. I am not sure what the issue was there.

True you really didn't have a lot of time to tune it and I felt like I was kind of rushing you guys, so that's my fault....

I ordered the BOV btw, so you guys can install that for me right? I purchased the TiAL Q one ($230) off Nolimitmotorsport.com. So at least that issue is taken car of and out of the way haha

I know you guys will figure it out, you're a great shop. What made me wondering WTF is all a sudden it started acting up after I filled it up and left the station, was weird how it just all a sudden did that. Of course it had to crap out when I was back in Frederick hahah

Yes, cold starts and hot starts will take some time to get perfect. Just pull 10% off that table till you get it to start nice. That's weird that you had to rewire the vtec. Was the polarity for the switch not right?

Odd thing about the pulse table is it actually made things WORSE when I tried to adjust it either way.. increase OR decrease. This was just for the HOT start table, BUT I was using their 1.08 base calibration as I couldn't get a S2000 base to start with when we started to tune the car since the forum and website were down. So I think it will be on the right track next time I get to spend some time with it!

As for the relay, I re-ran another coil side switched hot (86) and flipped around the VTEC output wire to (30) from (87) and gave the source switched hot to (87) and then used the haltech to ground (85)... once I rewired it, it worked perfectly. This ALONE took me about an hour to figure out and rewire as I was trying to diagnose if the haltech was doing it's job and how the wiring was ran before I could correct it.

So today I got a chance to go back over the car and the tune.

The car drives perfectly and starts well in colder temperatures and even when it is warm it will start ok (sometimes).

I adjusted everything I had access to, to try to fix the hot start problem and absolutely nothing helped.

I finally found that the problem was the home signal to the haltech which was intermittent when the car is warm. It never happens when the engine is cold, but when it is hot it will never find the "home" signal for some reason.

It still gets perfect trigger signal which shows the RPM for cranking, but it never synches the home signal to tell the injectors/coils when/where to fire.

I am going to check over the wiring a bit more to see if I can find the problem, but at this point it definitely looks like a sensor/wiring issue that needs attention.

If anyone has any other ideas, throw them out there.

Was this issue ever resolved? I'm interested in the Sprint 500 as a tuning option.

No we are still trying to figure it out. Here's more information for anyone willing to help out, some charts at the Haltech website (cold/hot start)

Any help would be appreciated towards a fix....

Got it all sorted out today.

I upgraded the firmware to 1.09 and changed the trigger settings a bit per Scott from Haltech's instruction and the car runs better and starts up every time.

I can post the settings if anyone is interested, but definitely great support from the guys at Haltech.

driveability tuning is as important as dyno tuning. If you like to drive the car anyway
