Default About to prepare for more boost few questions

As title states I am getting the car ready for more boost and the car will be hitting the dyno this coming saturday.

Current setup:
- Completely stock 2004 longblock
- UR turbo kit

I am about to install the inlinePro 3mm Headgasket, ARP headstuds, ID1000cc, Skunk2 70mm, and SOS 3Bar

Whats the latest update on the 3mm headgasket argument? Clock the oem timing gear? leave it? I was planning on just installing the HG according to the manual using ARP torque specs and their supplied ARP bolt lube.

Any other suggestions? Any sealant on the HG?

Planning for 500-550whp on 93 octane

Current setup is yielding apprx 400whp

Leave the motor stock and use race gas to reach your goals. You'll be a lot happier in the long run.

^I have been following the 3mm headgaskey debate but race gas is not practical for my use. I just want a fast street car and don't care much for race gas applications. I have another f20 in my garage I plan to build in the future so even if the hg route doesn't last a long time it isn't of big concern

I just want to take any steps possible to prolong it's life. Some have had problems with the 3mm (some cases assuming hg failure when not) while others have been trouble free

If you are only looking to up it to 500-550 I wouldn't do the HG.

OEM HG will be fine. ARP head studs are nice.

Forget about the Throttle body that is a waste of money

They work but....... I am running one now however I am going to pull it and put in a set of Mahle FRM compliant pistons while the block is still in the car.

Yes you do need to clock the timing gear, it is very easy if you have an impact or freind to help.

Any other suggestions? Any sealant on the HG?
First using gasket remover take off the large debis from the head and block. Then wipe clean with glass cleaner. Check the gasket for burs and spray the entire thing with KW Cooper Coat or equivinlent.

Don't know much about your setup but with a Dynojet or anthing that reads lower that will be VERY hard. The UR kit is very similar to the IP kit and most don't make it to 500WHP on pump though your 2.2 bottom end should help.

Thanks for the detailed response dsddcd

I purchased the throttle body for cheap so it wasnt exactly the largest investment, is it even beneficial to installing it? I havn't found much info on boost+throttle body on here to be honest although it seem to help other boosted vehicles.

Is the copper spray a component of the install that many insist on doing? Do the 3mm headgasket users find that the use of copper spray prolongs its life or is found to be the same?

I put one on mine from SOS, but I was in a similar scerio that a local member had one for a good price. I bought it thinking about the seal that SOS uses if I start running meth.

Copper is spray has been used for years by lots of people. Many people use it for factory HG and aftermarket. It is more for the water and oil side rather than the combustion chambers.

if i could do it over, i would say F&*K the aftermarket HG and keep my oem one.

i dont have any problems with my cometic 2mm, but having the oem honda assembled setup where everything was made to fit together that way is absolutely best.

i dunno about the copper spray. honda doesnt use it.... AEBS doesnt use it, i dunno about IP. i would pass, but thats only my opinion.
