Default act or competition stage 3?

hey guys, i'm asking for your opinion on my clutch choice. keep in mind I am going to be going to be turbo'd via a Greddy Kit very soon and hopefully will be obtaining around 350 whp with more boost/exhaust/blah blah. you know the story. but basically not exeeding 400 whp.

Option #1: Competition Clutch Kit Stage 3. I know many ppl that have this and love it and have heard nothing but good things to say about it.

Price- quoted 730 by Automotive speed

Option #2: ACT Clutch Stage 3

Price- around 350 (i have a hookup for act)

So, which should I choose? and yes price is a factor because I am a student, but also I want something that performs well and am willing to shell out the money for a competition kit if it is worth it. Thanks for the help!

I have never heard any REAL complaints about any ACT clutch kits. I know a couple people with SRT-4's with the ACT kits and they are satisfied. So, if you can get it that cheap I would go for it. Be careful about the bearings.. A lot of the kits for our cars dont include the bearings anymore. I am not certain about the ACT but the Clutchmasters kits DO NOT come with the apropriate bearings. From what I have read the Competition clutch kits DO include the bearings and alignment tool.

i was wondering the same question myself. the ACT is much cheaper and i'll be going with that because i have had 2 ACT clutches before in my AWD talon and my GSX and they hold up VERY WELL! so i think i just answered my own question...

I have the 6 puck stage 3 cc and love it. Takes a few days of getting used to but now I can easily drive the car and you'd swear it was stock.

i have had a HD 6 puck unsprung kit. All i gotta say is i drive it hard. Well ive gone through 2 rear axles, 2 rear diffs, 1 tranny since. I now NO longer run that combo. I run ACT HD presure plate but Spoon Street Disk. I was able to chirp upto 5th with the old clutch at the cost of the drive train. But with this new combo, its more streetable and is more easy to drive in traffic and has great grabbing power.

Dont cheap out here or you will pay for it in the long run with wear and tear to the drive train.

Good luck, may god be with you ! jk have fun

I have the ACT. It has about 2300 miles on it now. I do not launch but DO drive it hard. My engine was out of the car last week for some unrelated work and my tuner checked the clutch and said it looked like it had never been driven!

maybe the wear isnt on your clutch but distributed across your drive train! id rather have a slipping clutch then a diff thats about to goo, or tranny!

I have a Comp. clutch stage 3 and love it. It came with a throwout bearing, but no pilot bearing if that is what the previous poster is talking about.
