I removed the pin for two 3mm installs and had no problems. Much easier with the help of a friend. Make sure to align the TDC marks on the cams before you remove the head and chain.

Also,

Try wearing gloves while working on the gear. If the gear isn't lubricated with oil, and touching it without gloves can cause a little rust build up.

so we have some adjustment available with the factory equipment? That looks like the main gear, so you could in theory retard or advance both cams together ever so slightly?

i didnt remove the pin on my 3mm headgasket and had no issues. mine makes 500whp on 19psi
