AEM 1012 install pics please
Hi all,
I am trying to decide if i need a frog extension harness for my AEM 1012 installation. I understand these are larger than the stock ECU and therefore can be problematic to fit. On the flip side I have heard that there can be problems with some gauges when using the harness. (I will have Oil Pressure/Temp and AEM UEGO)
For what i have read when the 1012 is installed it can stick out over the dead pedal plate, i expect this shouldn't be a problem in RHD car? As I'm guessing the ECU is in the passenger foot well (like it was in my ITR) in my car?
So can anyone show me pics or confirm my thought so i can make a decision? (BTW i'm supercharging it
)
Thanks for all your help.
Chris

Hey fellow RHDer!
I have my AEM installed behind my passenger (left) seat using the VTECFROG 5' extension. I'd have it under the seat but i have an amp there.
I've been meaning to extend it a bit so I can mount it near the fuel tank but that's a whole lot of soldering.
Another advantage of the extension is that any wiring in to the AEM can be done via the extension so you don't mess up your OEM harness. Things like Modifry's ECT fix, boost controllers and UEGOs.

My 1012 fits in the stock location and does not stick out over the dead pedal, here is the trick. Flip it around so the logo faces away from you, and then with a serial cable plugged in, the cable will fit between in the small cavity in the top of that side compartment. It helps if you unclip the ecu wires from the wire tie/clips, then flip them around and clip them back in. If you leave the logo facing you, it wont go up high enough. I also took some pliers and moved the factory ECU mounting tabs out of the way. I can try and take some pictures later if you like.
