Default AEM boost solenoid

Well, I'm new to forced induction, so forgive if this is a stupid question. I'm about to turbocharge my S, and I'm looking at what I need to buy extra to the kit. I have AEM EMS already, and wonder as the topic says; do I need the AEM boost solenoid? I was thinking of running a TurboXS manual boost controller, and from how I understand it the boost solenoid will replace this. Am I right? Or will I need both? Thanks!

You can run your manual boost controller alone.

No need for the AEM boost solenoid unless you plan on using it to control boost through your AEM EMS. In this case, you would run the boost solenoid alone and without the manual boost controller.

Aem tru boost. This can do a variety of things that a manual controller cant do.
$260 new. I wouldn't trust a manual controller

AEM boost solenoid is overpriced, it is just a MAC solenoid, you can find one for ~$30

I have an AEM tru boost (electronic boost controller and boost gauge) that I can sell you

Thanks for all the replies!
Also thanks for the offer on the TruBoost, but I'll pass. The function etc seems to be very good, but I hate how it looks and the flickering light/numbers. I would go crazy in 5 minutes. So I'll go with a TurboXS High Performance boost controller and an analog boost gauge instead.

Use a solenoid, they work so much better at controlling boost in conjunction with a proper ems. There is really no comparison between a solenoid and a mbc.

x2

if you have aem, there is ZERO reason not to buy a mac solenoid off ebay and use that to control boost.
