Default AEM Truboost

Anyone here running the aem tru boost boost controller? I've bin told it has a boost by gear feature which basically sets a certin amount of psi per gear so you are acually able to hook. Is this true? If it is, is their like a button to disable the boost by gear option and just set it at a certin psi for every gear? Thanks

I dont own an AEM truboost, so I might be wrong, but Im pretty sure "boost by gear" can only be done through EMS. Mine was setup with AEM EMS & an electric boost solenoid. The truboost can do the same thing, but you need to set it up in your tune.

Basically tru boost is a boost solenoid/controller & gauge rolled into one. The nice thing is you can raise & lower the PSI by pressing buttons on it while you're driving without a laptop.

But if you just want boost by gear & dont need it to be adjustable on the fly, get a MAC solenoid for $50 and save the money. Tru boost is $300 IIRC?

Well I don't mind spending the 300$ on a tru boost as it's as simple as a button to raise and lower psi. But I'm not sure how the boost by gear and the aem tru boost will work together? If I raise the psi on the tru boost will boost by gear still engage? Anyone running the aem tru boost that can chime in?

i was told the tru boost cannot perform boost by gear- i went with a gm boost solenoid (around 50) to do boost by gear.
i wish the tru boost could because it is a good value and a nice setup

you're right, there is no boost by gear function on the Tru-Boost.

its setup in the EMS, under the wastegate function. There's a thread about it on here somewhere.

Use the AEM EMS to control boost. If your tuner knows what they're doing it will be ten times better and a lot more flexible.
