Default Air feed to air fitler

Hi, I wondering if anyone else has done this or if its worth it.

I was looking at my comptech SC+AC setup (mods in signature) today and i noticed the front end of the icebox was open to the elements (when looking down).

Would it be beneficial to route an air feed from the faux vent/or air guide to the air filter?

I'm unsure as i would have thought the aftercooler helps with air cooling, but i think the hole in the fender wall maybe a bit lacking as to providing air?

Looking to help with performance, heat soak and dropping IAT's when sitting in traffic etc.

Thanks

yes, i was also thinking that exact same thing today! lol strange!

anyway, there isnt too much room with the lights and the upper rad support, but if you have a steady hand and some free time, there's no reason why you couldn't cut out a decent size space and allow for a maybe 2.5" or 2" pipe or snorkel to under the rad cooling plate.

tell the rad to share some of that fresh air with the rest of the group!

FWIW You can easily route a kinda twisted 'L' shape pipe (2.5" diameter) from the front opening in the bumper up and left pass the radiator straight to the front of the icebox.

This is what I did years ago. Much like a N/A snorkel to the box, I just cut away that side of the plastic radiator plate and attached a plastic flexible sheet to the cross member and grill, this directs the airflow right up into the box. I know it works because my filter gets dirty really quick now

Good stuff Chris, i did a similar thing with my k&n fipk in my n/a days.

Notice any difference, or any data collected other than a dirty filter .

Not really any hard confirmation for you AJ, just seems like a reasonable way to get some cooler air to your intake and under hood goodies

Heat soak recovery seemed to speed up quite a bit.

Initial reports are that the IAT's drop quicker when putting my foot down, they also seem a little lower when pottering about.
