Default another questions about Gears -

I am supercharged 307 to the wheels -

I just have stock diff at the moment.... looking to maybe make a change. so...

0mph - 144mph........

will I be faster with the

4.1

or the

4.7

or it is about the same.....

Any help would be great - thanks so much!

if it is faster... are we talking 1 second faster.... 3 seconds faster.... or ... what...

I understand what it does...but trying to gauge if this is a good move for me. A guy has one for sale and I am interested so ... any help tonight would be great

Probably a lot of back and forth from 3rd through 6th to end up about the same. How often do you plan on getting to 144 mph?

The 4.77s will definitely help with grunt down low but the power you're making will make traction in 1st a bit problematic. If I were you I'd be looking at 4.44s.

faster as in 0mph - 144mph

I hit 144mph alot

i do not really see any need to go faster.. so that is why shortening the gears isn't going to hurt my feelings....

150mph ... 160mph... i just cant see that being practical... but i do hit 130's and 140's all the time

You may want to check into whether or not the 77's will even allow you to get that high. I'm personally looking into tosme 3.90's for the 40-160 corvette and viper style racing up top.

144 is about right with 4.77s given theoritcally 4.1 yields 167. I'm wondering where the OP is running 140 regularly.

4.77's will put you right where you want to be to the best of my knowledge like Raymo said. You will like them. I test drove a SC with them, and liked it while I was looking at 4.56's. I went with the 4.56's cause a lot of shifting with the 4.77's. They are quick!

so... to be clear here....

from 0mph - 140mph the 4.77 Final drive is "physicaly" faster than the 4.1 ??

like if you were to time it with a clock watch - they are "for sure" faster ?

In my head it seems like they should be faster for sure.... but I just want to make sure I am not missing anythig here......due to the lack of experience with final drive stuff.
