Default Anyone have vortech bov leak at high boost?

I'm re tuning shortly my v2 kit for around 16 psi. I currently have the max flow vortech bov.

Has anyone had this start leaking on them at higher boost?

I know they sell the Mondo bov which lists good for 12+ psi but wondering if anyone has found it necessary at these boost levels?

A larger bov would be more Evac ability, which you generally need to keep from blowing off couplers or blowing out blower seals when the blower speed has increased from a smaller pulley change. The bov ability to hold pressure would be based on the quality of the bov, not its size. With that, ive never experienced failure of a bov to hold pressure at 20psi, not even the plastic Bosch recirc valve that comes in the comptech kit. The vt bov looks much more substantial a unit which I'd expect to be up to the task on holding boost, I do not know about its evac ability however, which would be more important. Maybe someone has experienced a bov failure I'm not aware of and they can chime in.

Yeah the Mondo can blow off a lot more. 550+cfm at 10 psi compared to the max flow race bov which is 320 cfm at 8 psi.

Mine worked fine at 16 psi. I had some issues just past that pressure and got the Mondo BOV. Much louder now.

Ok good to know. Thanks! I'll try out the max flow race one I have first. Mines already really loud so the mondo would be pretty annoying I bet!

Sort of like dragging a long heavy chain down the street. It's a loud way to imply I'm not on the throttle and It's just begging to be shut up with a full throttle run.

The Mondo BOV was a tight fit and I placed it just perfect so nothing touches.

I have blown the couplers off as well with the vortech sc. I had a bead welded on the aftercooler portion coming off the SC outlet. Vortech didn't put one there originally.

How much boost are you running again on the vortech? And stock blower or did you upgrade things?

I upgraded to the Si trim and am pushing 18 psi with a custom 7" crank pulley, 4.2" blower pulley, and shifting at 9k rpm. Also upgraded heat exchanger and went overboard with the water pump (meziere). I need to re-dyno though. I should be able to do it sometime this week.
