Default Anyone use Royal Purple with their turbos?

I rebuild sleeve-type bearing turbos and notice that there seems to be a correlation between crusty turbos and the use of royal purple in these turbos. The oil tends to crust up and harden, blocking oil passages, wreaking havoc in the turbo. Royal Purple claims full synthetic, but are they really? I've talked to many people and some concur, stating that they never use RP, others claim they've never had a problem in n/a and FI applications. thoughts and experiences?

I've also heard many problems using royal purple in F/I applications. It works beautifully for the N/A guys though.

cool thanks for the input guys. hopefully more will tell us their experiences as well. I wonder if other oils behave the same? maybe we should get a list going of good oils to use. What do you guys use with success?

The exhaust side bearing went out on my turbo after about 7 months. Dont know if Royal Purple was the problem or blowing off intercooler pipes was the problem. Hell it could have been the $250 turbo i got off ebay or a combination of all three.

Chris Lum - Here is a link to the "Oil Journals" located in the UTH forum. It is an en-depth analysis of many of the top brand lubricants. Member "RoadRage" really knows his stuff, and conducted an impartial analysis. I believe RP is mentioned somewhere in there... Check it out.

I use royal purple. It doesn't hurt bearings, that is silly.
Check this info out though good reading: http://www.animegame.com/cars/Oil%20Tests.pdf
