Default AP2 motor w/AP1 trans.

Ok so as some of you may know i'm doing a GT3076 turbo setup with a 2mm headgasket shooting for 500WHP.

I recently discovered the cylinder walls in #3 are scored.

Instead of enduring down time, i decided to buy an AP2 short block.

I wasn't sure if i should post this in NA or FI, so i figured my FI buddies could hopefully help me out.

The thing i'm wondering is what on the AP1 trans may be different as far as bolting it up to an AP2 motor? Anything? I just don't wanna get the motor, and then come to find out I need to modify the trans bolts or something to get it to work.

Any help is appreciated, I found some info regarding the output shaft bolts being different when doing an AP2 trans with AP1 diff, but i'm doing motor to trans.

not an answer, but how much are you buying the short block for? depending on the price, for a little more you could build your bottom end...

so you say bottom end, so its not a long block then. In that case, there is nothing that will prevent you from connecting it up. When i swapped a 2.2L into my car, the fuel rail system was a little different, but that was a full long block.

Ok thanks, that's what I needed to know Soul Coughing.

Dev, the thing is, If i'm going to spend the money to build a short block like sleeves, and low comp pistons, I would STILL have a 2.0L.

I always wanted to do a 2.2L assembly and I think this is the kick in the ass I needed

The differences between the F20c and F22c are the crank and rods; the actual block is the same.

You would just need to send a builder like Laskey a bare block with F22c crank if you wanted 2.2L.

Funny you mention wanting to move to a F22c. I think I'd rather have the F20c! LOL

edit: since the F22c crank is a bit more money than the F20c crank, you could just send them your block with the crank it has, and have them bore the stock sleeves so you have a 2.1L.

If you dont mind me asking, how much was the AP2 short block?

I also am thinking of eventually going 2.2 down low.

I'm aiming for the 2.2L since i want more tq.

Trust me, I would've kept the 2.0L setup, but alas, the cylinder wall is trashed.

I found it from Majestic Honda for $2710.04 which is the ebst price i was able to find. If anyone can fine a better price from a reputable company, i'm open to suggestions.

send your block to laskey to be built; $3,500 or so..

it won't matter that the cyl wall is damaged... why pay $2700 for a stock block when for a few hundred more you'll have a bottom-end built for boost, esp since you are considering 450-500whp...

unless you are local to RI, they won't ship the block to you. You need to pick it up.

Ahhh I see. Good to know. I'll keep looking. ALthough they DO show a shipping method for this.

Honestly the down time is what's going to kill me, so I don't have time to wait for a block to be built.
