Hopefully this thread can put to rest the discrepancy in ARP studs for those of us blowing HGs

Please post the following:

Headgasket: IP 3mm
Moly lube or oil: ARP moly
Torque spec used: 85 ft/lbs
Sequence/torque method: Honda service manual
Re-Torque (Yes or no): no
New Studs or re-used: used
WHP: 478
PSI: 21

Headgasket: SCE Copper 2mm with copper spray
Moly lube or oil: ARP moly
Torque spec used: 90 ft/lbs
Sequence/torque method: Honda service manual
Re-Torque (Yes or no): Yes (each bolt turned an extra 1/8 turn)
New Studs or re-used: used
WHP: 600whp
PSI: 23
Miles lasted: 8000

Moly lube or oil: some assembly oil type stuff had laying around
Torque spec used: 100 ft/lbs (90-100, cant remember exactly, will ask buddy who works on car w me)
Sequence/torque method: Honda service manual
Re-Torque (Yes or no): ? Tightened in 3 different steps
New Studs or re-used: used
WHP: 480whp
PSI: 17
Miles lasted: 15-20k

blew between cyl 2-3

Moly lube or oil: moly lube
Torque spec used: 90 ft/lbs
Sequence/torque method: Honda service manual
Re-Torque (Yes or no): 30/60/90 no retorque
New Studs or re-used: used
WHP: 480whp
PSI: 13
Miles lasted: 3000, did not blow, redid my set up

new set up, fbm L19 head studs 100ft/lbs on 30 psi oem hg, no issues

Moly lube or oil: ARP (new improved assembly lube from ARP)
Torque spec used: 95ft/lbs on digital tq wrench accurate to 2%
Sequence/torque method: 33/66/95 Factory Sequence as shown.
Re-Torque (Yes or no): No
New Studs or re-used: New
WHP: 450 prior / 700+ new setup awaiting first run
PSI: 8psi / 15psi / xxpsi
Miles lasted: Didn't blow prior / N/A (not tested yet)

Great thread btw! I'll continue to update with results good and bad.

Sequence/torque method: FSM(chased,cleaned, blew out block threads before install)
Re-Torque (Yes or no): No
New Studs or re-used: New
WHP: been as high as 415, currently at 373
PSI: 9.5-18
Miles lasted: 25,000 and counting

^ Nice post.

This should be stuff thats 101 basic for everyone on this forum arguing about these topics.

This is why I cringe when I ask what someone used to install their ARP studs with and they're unsure or used what they happen to have without calculating the extra torque needed to achieve proper clamping aside from repeatability which obviously changes greatly.
