Bad Seal on Turbo?
Hey guys, hope you guys can help me determine if this turbo is good or not. I just got this used GT35R from a forum member, it got here today and i opened it to inspect. first looking at it, it looks fine with some oils at the return line, normal i'll say. But upon further inspection, i found oils on the exhaust side, if you can see from the pics. The blades on the exhaust side are all wet with oil. This concerns me, i'm not an expert but this looks bad isn't it? Please let me know what you guys think, thanks again.
How do you guys post pictures???

thanks, GT35R it's BB. This is what the seller said
"hey the exhaust housing only has oil in the exhaust side from sitting in the vertical position for over a month, Gravity can and will eventually pull very small amounts past the center section, but no worries the turbo is in great condition. it wouldnt hurt to remove the exhaust housing and give it a wipe otherwise u will prob have a Small amt of smoke while the residue burns off for the first minute. after that u should see ZERO smoke. Please make sure that the proper oil restrictor is in place when installing it. Just to ease your mind it Never has smoked a day in its life, Was removed professionally and stored, it does Not leak oil. that little bit of residue over time can leak past because it is a ball bearing turbo not a thrust washer turbo and that little bit of residue is normal for the turbo and the way it was stored. If you have any issues or problems please feel free to pm me!
its basically the same principal as not keeping the drain section at a vertical angle when running a bb turbo, It will allow small amounts of oil to leak past, but as it was NEVER run setup improperly I Know there is absolutely no damage. the oil will burn off and it will have no issues. Thanks again for the purchase and like i said please keep me in the loop. im glad to assist or answer any ?s i can"

Eh, ok, so your car works, right? Id correctly install it and see whats what.
A little smoke isnt going to kill anybody. Are you planning on installing it yourself?
If you are paying someone to install, then you may want to find out more first, but if you are doing it, id give it a go.

well i haven't install it yet, still waiting for parts to make the downpipe. But just wanted to make sure that it sounds fair and good. I don't want to go through all the trouble and end up with a bad turbo to begin. Well i'll give it a go and see what happens. Thanks for the comment guys.
