Does it have to be a battery box or can we just go with a battery tray since the mini battery tray is designed for AGM and Lithium Battery which are both dry cell and does not need a containment box nor vent tube.

I don't think it really needs to be a box as long as it's fully secure and for the trunk trying to eliminate engine bay clutter for track day and race applications

Hey guys Just heard that a few pics will be posted soon showing a few different locations in the trunk. From that point we will need to decide which we want

Here are a few locations in the trunk where we could mount the battery tray. We could also mount it in the spare tire cavity but that would require running something smaller in size than the Odyssey PC680, if you want to keep the 500+ CCA amp, the largest shorai or Ballistic evo2HD are both shorter in height and can probably fit in the spare tire cavity. Regardless of location, it will require drilling holes in trunk sheetmetal and using either thru bolts or rivetserts to secure the battery tray to the chassis. If we were to mount it in the factory location in the engine bay, we could build a mounting tray that could use the existing oem battery tray mounting points and no drilling would be require. But it sounds like everyone in this thread wants to mount the battery in the trunk.

The spare tire cavity will require using a smaller height battery since the PC680 is too tall.

First two or spare tire cavity would work for me.
