Well 2.5" NPS has an outer diameter of 2.875". I'd imagine NPS sizes would be more readily available/cheaper.

If you're making it removable, how will you attach it to the body of the car? Will you drill holes in the engine bay walls and use rivet nuts or weld nuts? Or you could weld on a thick flange with threaded holes and attach the cross member to these welded-on flanges? There's so many possibilities, lol.

either way there will be 2 thick welded flanges threaded in. most likely arp 12pt SS bolts will be used to secure.
