Default BEGI Turbo update.

Well we are almost finished up with the kit, and I cant wait. Its been taking a while, but thats because we have been designing alot of the parts from scratch. The car should be running and getting tuned within the next week. Today I was at the shop finishing up the intercooler piping, final mounting of the intercooler and helped getting the heat shields designed and built. It has been an awesome learning about turbos and I am still learning more and more each time I enter the shop. For those of you that dont know, BEGI is owned by Corky Bell(The author of Maximum Boost), and we are building a prototype daily driver turbo kit. They have been building turbos for miatas for years, and now would like to expand into the s2000 market. They just put some pics up on their website so you can see the progress we have made so far, after looking at the pics though I can tell you the kit will have a few more heat shields and Parts like the manifold and turbo housing will be ceramic coated, I plan on making all the piping flat black as well. I ordered a TIAL wastegate and we are waiting on the AEM ems.
Here is the link to their website, just click on the s2k pic engine for more pics! http://www.bellengineering.net/

GT2871 is just a baby, have you thought about using a GT3071?

What was the final cost, I know you said it was going to be pretty reasonable.

To tell you the truth, I dont have to much say in the matter of the sizes lol Im just kinda letting him do what ever he wants, and I can always change things after we get done. Im still not sure how much he wants to sell the kits for, but im getting a pretty good deal since hes using my car as a prototype and am helping out as much as I can with all the labor.

Thats a real cool manifold, you may need a little bigger turbo though, but see how it works out. With this engine it may run out of steam before redline but I am real intrested in seeing how it works out.

Yea, we'll see what he plans to do with the kit, for now I dont think anything over 400hp. Ill let you guys know what his final plans are and when the kit finally goes on sale for sure! The manifold is one that they made many years ago actually, im not sure if they will keep the same design or go with a new one when he puts the kit into production.
