Thumbs up Best setup for autocrossing

I will be autocrossing / road racing my S a lot and I would like to know whether I should keep the engine N/A, or go FI (supercharger or turbo).

To some extent it depends on what class you want to compete in. S2000's are very competitive in stock classes. If you go FI you'll be running in modified class where the competition is usually either a lot tougher, or nonexistent (depending on where you live). The best advice is probably to stay in stock class, but I've been running my car in modified class for over a year now and just installed a Comptech SC/AC. On the autocross courses more power is not really what's needed, but it *does* make the car more fun.

Thanks for your feedback. I understand all that you are saying. I ran my Civic...yes my freaking Civic...in SM earlier this year. This was prior to my engine swap, which definitely makes that car more worthy in that class. I was in SM prior to the engine swap because I had an aftermarket steering wheel without an air bag!

I am not out to win any trophies...at least not yet. I am out to have fun, and have a very fast car, even if my driving skills aren't on par with the car's abilities.

I ran Stock, prepared and M in my S. Since I got the turbo, I can keep that thing in 2nd the whole course and I moved a lot in the local auto-x food chain a LOT.
Before I had to downshift into first, what makes the car vey unhappy and taily, so I feel much better with the extra mid range power in 2nd now.
SC won't help you at all. PERIOD

Thanks for your feedback.

I have talked to people in other forums and most think superchargers are ideal (in general) for autocrossing. Why don't you think a supercharger would help?

Red MX5: thanks for your feedback.

Either way I go, supercharger or turbo, I will be getting the 4.56 FD so that needs to be factored into the equation. With that in mind, maybe it would be best to stay N/A and get:

Race header
Toda ITBs
Upgraded N/A cams

Just a thought...

I focused on getting the suspension and handling like I wanted it before looking for more power. Took me two years of autocrossing with a stock motor (only had an AEM V1 CAI) before I decided that it was time to boost the power up a little.

If you run the car stock for a while I don't think you'll regret it later.
