Big turbo s2k question
I know this is a highly stupid question, but is a 67/68 turbo to big for a Ap2. My buddy's Forman is selling 2 67/68 turbos and told my friend he will sell both to him for $200 bucks each. So I was thinking of going a custom route to throw a big turbo on, only 1 not 2 lol. I have a friend who is also a machinist with a shop so if I need parts fabricated I can have him do that. I was wondering if it's even worth it to spend the money get the turbo, and slowly build the kit. Or am I just better off saving 6k for a SOS stage 2 S/C kit?
Modification list I have already
-skunk2 header (best manifold pairing for S/C build)
-2 3/4 test pipe
-3 inch HkS single exhaust
-AEM V2 intake
- mishimoto 3 core radiator
-slim racing fans
- dyno tune to be 229.8 whp
-11lbs light weight flywheel
-ACT HD clutch
-93 octane with (Fuel/ injector cleaner every other oil change)
Any advice would be nice I also have done a decent amount of handling upgrades as well
-polyurethane bushing for rear & front arms
-225/45 front 255/40 rear
-tein coils
-dev sport frame mount splitter

Best to ask this in the FI sub-forum.

That said, my biased opinion is, don't do it. Doing a turbo setup properly, maintaining it, and not have it blow up and/or cause you problems is a lot of time and money and will reduce reliability quite a bit.
I'd say do the SOS kit over trying to make this work.
Also, do you have a second vehicle or is this your only car? I wouldn't do anything FI if this serves as more than just a toy car that you can't afford to have sitting on jack stands for weeks at a time.

I do have another vehicle, 97 TJ lol, but thank you for the advice. I heard that turbos make the reliability decrease. I was leaning more towards a SC kit anyways bc I heard they are just more natural for our cars
