Black smoke
Hello,
My car is currently tuned with aem ems 1052 with 750cc RC injectors and it emits black smoke, much more so than other ''tuned'' cars.
The black smoke gets pretty bad especially under WOT, and when hitting the redline, I see a huge cloud of black smoke go past behind me through my mirrors.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why its doing this or what I can do to lessen the smoke a bit?
Thanks

I don't have a wideband so I don't really know the AFR. And my oil consumption seems ok.
To give a little background info on the car,
I bought the car in Dec 07 with the comptech s/c running 5lbs on stock ecu and stock everything. I took the car in for a dyno pretty much immediately after i bought it. I noticed black smoke when the dyno dude hit the redline. But the amount of the black smoke wasn't of concern as I did see other ''tuned'' cars putting out similar amounts, although mine seemed on the higher side.
In March 08, I put in the following:
3.2inch pulley, injectors(used 750cc), AEM fuel pressure regulator, AEM map sensor, BOV, AEM EMS 1052, and got it tuned at Church.
If I remember correctly, 'I don't think' it made as much black smoke at the time of tuning. I'm not sure. But it seems like its getting worse and the smell(test pipe) is unbearable.
Can a car get "out of tune"? due to weather/climate changes or etc?
Here are some other random info about my car,
-My idle "fluctuates" when I start the car when hot/warm. I didn't think much of it as it seemed to get ''normalized" after driving it a little. However, my oil pressure started dipping into 0.5(dont know the unit on the defi gauge) but only when the car gets pretty hot/warm. I just talked to Church however, and was told to bring the car in so that he can "increase the speed of the idle."
-My timing chain tensioner keeps dying on me, which I just replaced again(first in March 08, and 2nd time in November 08). I was also told the dying tensioner may have something to do with the oil pressure dipping low. The car died coming to a stop ONCE by the way, which is what prompted me to immediately replace the tensioner. And so far, the car seems to be running fine.
-My water pump for the Aftercooler is not running so after driving for a while, the aftercooler gets super hot. And I'm sure it raises the IAT alot. At this point, I feel a pretty good amount of power loss. (I know, I need to fix it).
Well, thats it for now as I try to get all the little quirks out of the car one by one.
Thanks for all your inputs
Hey david, hows your car running?
Do you stay in touch with Sean?

I haven't spoken to Sean in a while.

Your AC not working may be causing your running richer condition, typically your afr's will go down when things heat up and also due to timing retard that your ecu may be doing for safe measure because of the added temp. Your probably running a little bit on the richer side anyway, but now that your shit is heating up due to no AC its getting worse.
Not trying to scare you but I also had the black smoke under WOT and sometimes right at startup. Needless to say my motor was toast. Definately figure it out. my car ran strong with the smoke for about 4000 miles. Sideways set me up with some 500whp+ Porsche's and that black smoke turned to constant grey smoke at idle.
