Default bleh, small setback

so had another dump tube crack on me. sucks, i was driving the car yesterday and i hear a weird rattle. i check it out last night, and the passenger side dump tube moves. it cracked at the flange weld. kinda sucks. vibration is a killer that i can say. the other dump tube was just loose, though i almost punched a baby when it moved and i thought it was cracked too.

should be fixed tomorow, gonna have a local place weld it up. it didnt completely break so no need for a jig. just repair.

Is this a common problem? I think Spectacle had his dump tube broken off. Is your dump tube rubbing against anything?

It's possible that when the motor rocks under power the tube hit the sub frame. But the other one was loose at the v band joint. I think it's a product of vibration fatiguing the Welds. But that's just a guess.

When it's repaired while I'm putting it on I'll take a good look at what it could hit.

It's common if you have a fancy pants full race twin scroll set up.

I was having this issue every 1k miles with my sidewinder and found that shortening the dump tube to under 12 inches completely stopped it from cracking. See if you can engineer a shorter dump! Also, if you keep fixing the same crack with re-welding, it can weaken the metal. On the last dump, before the one that hasn't broken, the actual v-band cracked in half after i re-welded it at least 3 times and i had to buy a new Tial flange.

Just make it come out of the hood!...haha. It's plenty short that way. (And it sounds cool at WOT)
