Boost into the crankcase is bad

To sum it up:

1.The carnk case vent on the PCV line is there to block boost from entering the crank case
2.The vent on the breather line is there to maintain this magical vaccum.

Correct?
1 is correct. you can also prevent boost if you set up your catch can like xviper's setup.
2, if you put a krank vent in the front breather, then there would be no air coming in, only coming out.

and yes, the big hose connected to the front breather is connected to the intake airbox..

I think this is where some of the confusion begins - what you are calling it. It's the 2ndary "air injection" system.

I thought I saw a thread where someone reccomended low pressure cracking one way check valves from Mcmaster-Carr as a cheaper alternative to the Krankvents.

Since search is down I can't find that thread. Anyone try those?

Yes, there are some owners that have gone that route. The thread you are looking for was removed. The mcmaster item was in the range of $35. The Krankvent has proven capacity, polished up nice and fits without adapters or headaches from making your own system. Your choice. Sometimes it is better to pay a little more.

AllStock27, how does xviper's catch can set up work? You keep on talking about it but yet there is no info!

Ok so after I was thinking I know how to put the front vent, this came by mail from Ted:

LARGER KrankVent w/ 1/2" HOSE BARBS:

THIS KV GOES INTO THE LARGER 1/2" HOSE THAT EXITS THE VALVE COVER (OR SOMETIMES THE REAR BREATHER PORT) & ORIGINALLY WENT TO THE AIR BOX. SPLICE THE LARGE KV INTO THIS LINE WITH THE FLOW AWAY FROM THE ENGINE! IF THE END OF THIS HOSE IS NOT CONNECTED TO THE AIR BOX THEN IT CAN VENT TO THE ATMOSPHERE OR A CATCH CAN AS REQUIRED BY VARIOUS TRACK REGULATIONS.

But somehow it makes sense, otherwise it would not hold the vacuum. So definetly no more fresh air into the crank case
The one on the PCV flows into the manifold (thats away from the engine for me) and the other one also from the engine.

Are all lights on now?

And sorry XViper, I haven't been on the forums for some time and forgot all the fancy names like "secondary air injection system", god damit I even forgot what a retainer is..so take it ease on me

I posted in this thread earlier, but my post was deleted. Does anyone know why?
