Default Boost Limiter Valve

Does anyone have any experience with this? It's basically like a wastegate but for the intake tube.

Do you think there would be some negative/positive aspects?

Lets say this. You put a 12lb pulley on a CTSC. And at 3000RPM the 12lb pulley is generating 6lbs of boost (hypothetically). The BLV is set to release at 6lbs, and you will only be boosting 6lbs all the way to 9000rpm on a 12lb pulley.

Is it really worth it to have 4-6lbs of boost at low rpm, than having 12lbs only at 9000RPM?

LMK your thoughts/opinions.

not a bad idea in theory, but i would make a quick assumption that a piece will like this might be prone to leaking earlier than you'd want it to.

lets not forget that the blower is still spinning @ a 12psi level when your engine is only seeing the effect of 6 psi. This would obviously have negative effects such as increased temperature of the air, potential of valve to fail (maybe, maybe not), plus the load on the engine to compress 12psi worth of air when only getting 6psi for power.

Isn't this just a BOV? And I'm pretty sure most people are running them with a SC setup.

what i'm saying is, with the 12lb pulley you wont see 12lbs until late in the revs (8000-9000). correct?? so around 4000rpm the blower should be generating 6lbs. (hypothetically) And as you keep climbing till 9000rpm (time to shift) the valve is dumping excess pressure out, and you will never see the full 12lbs.

Will your engine still be under heavy load?

a BOV is used to release pressure when the throttle is closed to eliminate compression surge.

i'd just go for the high psi rather than wastegating the smaller pulley to eliminate boost. if your fuel pressure regulator or engine management can keep up with more boost, then do it, if it can't make it then.

i like the safety-wire on the t-clamps, i had a coupler blow off today and maybe if i had safey-wire holding them from separating it wouldn't've happened, maybe i'll try that sometime.
