Default Boost on unopened f20c

How much boost has the f20 taken before lifting the head? Going to get a tune next week on some c16, but don’t want to jam 16-20# in there if the heads going to lift.

Typically 700+whp at well over 20psi. I personally have 135,000 miles on my stock f20c at over 600whp at 20psi of boost on e85. Been turboed since about 80,000 miles. I only run the car on e85 at 20psi of boost.

There's alot of variables that can "lift the head" cylinder head lift is caused by excessive cylinder pressure, which can be from several things, detonation and/or preignition, improper fuel type, over-advanced ignition timing, improper air-fuel ratio, vacuum leaks, malfunctioning sensors and increased boost pressure.

So there's no magical boost number.

Lmk if you need a solid tune I've seen alot of tuners put WAAYYY to much timing into a pump gas car, and owner than complains of overheating, and loss of power few weeks later... I wonder why lol

You’ll be fine with 20lbs. depending on the tuner. I used to run 24lbs on pump with water/meth injection which is alot cheaper than c16. I pulled the meth kit off since I’m changing my setup.

You will 100000% break something else before you break the motor of the car. MAYBE if you have an ap1 with the weak retainers you might crack one at over 600whp, but those are super easy to replace and you should do that anyways...

You won't crack retainers from hp. There isn't any real extra load on them from higher cylinder pressures.

They crack from revs that far exceed redline, which is only achievable via mechanical overrev, ie missed shift.

True, assuming running stock profile cams.
